Social Media Intern Role in Surulere, Lagos (Remote + Event Coverage) – Apply Now

Apply Now – Social Media Intern Role, Surulere, Lagos. MNIKS Purple | Remote + Event Coverage

Part-time (20-25 hrs/week) | 6-Month Commitment | ₦40,000/month

THE OPPORTUNITY

MNIKS Purple is a fashion supply platform for African creators (designers, tailors, brands). We source fabrics, trimmings, embroidery, and accessories for serious fashion builders. We’re building a founder-led brand presence across Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn and we need someone to bring it to life.

This isn’t a traditional social media job. You’ll be translating a co-founder’s operator vision, business decisions, and community into compelling content across platforms. You’ll work closely with the co-founder, attend events, and build a narrative around how MNIKS supports creators. You’ll see real metrics (DM inquiries, designer onboarding, revenue impact) tied to your work.

This is a 6-month contract role starting immediately. This is a personal hire (you’ll be paid from the founder’s pocket, not company payroll). It’s designed for a mass communication student or recent grad who wants portfolio-building experience with a real business, not a ‘marketing internship’ with busy work.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Create content across platforms (eg Instagram Reels/Carousels, TikTok, LinkedIn posts)
  • Translate founder decisions, business metrics, and designer stories into 15-60 second videos and written posts
  • Film, edit, and caption content (4-6 pieces per week, posted on schedule)
  • Build narrative consistency across all three platforms (voice, tone, visual language)
  • Manage community engagement (monitor comments, flag DMs to founder, respond where appropriate)
  • Attend events with the founder (when she’s hosting/participating) and capture real-time content
  • Track performance data (engagement, inquiries, follower growth) and report insights monthly
  • Be self-sufficient: take brief direction and execute without hand-holding

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

Must-haves:

  • Mass Communication PR, Media, and/or Digital marketing background (current student or recent grad, within 1 year)
  • Portfolio of content you’ve created (videos, posts, campaigns – could be for school projects, side work, personal brand)
  • Can film and edit videos for social media platforms (phone camera acceptable; CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or equivalent)
  • Strong written communication (clear, compelling captions; understands narrative)
  • Based in Lagos (remote work, but must attend in-person events when requested)
  • Self-directed (can take a brief and execute without constant feedback loops)
  • Interested in business/entrepreneurship/creator economy (you’ll learn how MNIKS Purple works)

Nice-to-haves:

  • Understanding of fashion industry or creator communities
  • Experience with growth metrics (analytics, conversion, engagement rate)
  • Familiarity with LinkedIn professional voice
  • Worked on multiple content platforms simultaneously

THE BRAND POSITIONING YOU’LL EMBODY

This brand is NOT lifestyle influencer content. It’s operator/builder energy. You’ll be creating:

  • Spotlights (celebrating key moments in MNIKS Purple)
  • Behind-the-scenes process (showing how decisions are made, why quality matters)
  • The work (what it takes to build and grow a fashion business)
  • Founder operations (behind the scenes and day to day activities including events)
  • Growth milestones (revenue, team size, designer partners – transparency, not ego)
  • Industry takes (thought leadership, standards, the ‘why’ behind MNIKS Purple positioning)
  • Client transformations (how creators’ businesses changed after using MNIKS Purple)

You’re not selling. You’re building community around a serious creator platform. Authenticity and clarity matter more than polish or trends.

TIME COMMITMENT & SCHEDULE

20-25 hours per week (flexible, not strict 9-5). Typical breakdown:

  • Monday morning (2 hours): Filming with founder
  • Tue-Wed (6-8 hours): Editing, designing, writing captions, scheduling posts
  • Thu-Fri (3-4 hours): Monitoring engagement, responding to comments, capturing real-time content
  • Events (as needed): Attend when founder is hosting/participating; capture behind-the-scenes

All work is remote except: filming sessions (location TBD, usually Surulere or event venue) and events.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

This is explicitly a learning role for someone building a media/content career. You’ll gain:

  • Real portfolio pieces (6 months of documented work across three platforms)
  • Direct exposure to how a founder thinks about brand, voice, and strategy
  • Understanding of metrics that matter (not just engagement, but conversion and revenue impact)
  • Experience managing multiple content platforms simultaneously
  • Business knowledge (how supply, pricing, positioning, and content work together)

Mentorship is minimal (you’ll get feedback on work, not hand-holding) – you need to be self-directed.

WHAT’S EXPECTED (The Real Talk)

  • You take direction and execute without asking clarifying questions every step
  • You understand the brand voice quickly and maintain consistency
  • You deliver content on schedule (not late, not ‘almost ready’)
  • You track your own work (don’t need reminders to post or check analytics)
  • You’ll be responsive (respond to feedback, iterate quickly)
  • You understand this is a 6-month role with a clear end date (you’ll know by month 5 if there’s a path beyond)

COMPENSATION & LOGISTICS

  • ₦40,000 per month (paid monthly on the 1st)
  • 6-month commitment (May 2026 – October 2026)
  • This is a personal hire (you’re paid from founder’s pocket, not company budget)
  • No benefits (this is a contract role, not employment)
  • Remote work; equipment provided by you (phone/camera, editing software)
  • For events: you’ll be reimbursed for transport if travel is required
